POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A polygamous man who oversaw a southeast Idaho home where nine boys were sent on repentance missions by Warren Jeffs has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for child abuse. The charges stemmed from 49-year-old Nathan Jessop locking a teenage boy in a furnace room for two days, and not reporting that two other boys ran away.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwest Idaho man authorities say crashed into a parked Boise police vehicle that had its emergency lights activated has been cited for negligent driving. The Boise Police Department says the crash occurred about 4 a.m. Saturday. The driver suffered facial injuries and was transported to a hospital. His name hasn't been released.
KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) — A central Idaho communications building destroyed by a fire at the ski area on Bald Mountain has been replaced. The Idaho Mountain Express reports that Sun Valley Co. says the new communications building that provides cellphone service to parts of Ketchum and areas to the north. Officials didn't release the cost of the new building.
SEATTLE (AP) — Gov. Jay Inslee says more needs to be done to prevent and respond to oil spills, as trains increasingly move volatile shipments of crude oil through Washington state. The governor yesterday received initial findings from a state study looking into the safety and environmental risks of oil transport. The draft report recommends making changes to allow more railroad inspectors and finding more money to bolster the state's oil spill response and prevention program.
