Pirates set to host Giants tonight...Cards' rotation set for Dodgers...NHL Jackets lose Jenner

PITTSBURGH (AP) — San Francisco invades Pittsburgh tonight for their National League Wild Card game. During the regular season the Pirates dominated play, winning four of the six games played. The pitching matchup tonight has Madison Bumgarner going for the Giants against Edinson Volquez (VOHL'-kehz).

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals are set for their National League divisional playoff series with the Dodgers. Manager Mike Matheny (muh-THEE'-nee) has announced his starting pitching for their best-of-five affair, saying he'll go with Adam Wainwright, Lance Lynn, John Lackey and Shelby Miller with Michael Wacha (WAH'-kuh) coming out of the bullpen.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Forward Boone Jenner of the Columbus Blue Jackets is expected to be sidelined approximately five weeks with a broken left hand. Jenner, who had 16 goals and 33 assists as a rookie a year ago, was struck by a puck during practice on Sunday.

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) — To nobody's surprise, the PGA Tour player of the year is Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy. He won two of the four major tournaments and finished with 12 top 10 finishes. He wrapped up the year with $8.2 million in prize money.

OSLO, Norway (AP) — Oslo says it has dropped its bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics after the Norwegian government declined to provide financial backing, a move which leaves just two cities in a race that has been decimated by withdrawals. Oslo is the sixth European city to withdraw from consideration, leaving Beijing and Almaty, Kazakhstan.
