SALT LAKE CITY — People’s lives often seem more interesting and exciting online, and one man made a video to show his reality vs. typical GoPro videos.
Mike Fry posted the compilation video to YouTube on Tuesday, and it quickly garnered 250,000 views within a few hours. While GoPro videos detail the exciting lifestyle of professional adrenaline junkies (people with way more money than myself), Fry’s everyday life is more familiar for most people.
I definitely have more experience canoeing lazily down a river than I do skiing off a mountain or surfing on 10-foot waves. And I would be way more likely to try to hit golf balls into a bucket than I would be to go skydiving.
While the Internet can provide a nice distraction at times from a monotonous lifestyle, Fry’s video was refreshing. We are constantly bombarded with videos and advertisements showing people having fun, pushing the limits and living life on the edge. And sometimes, these videos can make our own lives seem dreary.
So thanks, Mr. Fry. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one living life on the simple side.
