(AP) — Advocates of protecting sage grouse habitat across the West say new research shows visitors to western federal rangelands with significant tracts of sagebrush pumped more than $1 billion into the economy last year. The Pew Charitable Trusts says hunters, campers, fishermen and others spent $88 million in Nevada alone.

(AP) — A former U.S. General Services Administration official who hosted a lavish, $800,000 conference in Las Vegas that sparked a congressional investigation has been indicted on fraud charges. Jeffrey Neely of Gardnerville is accused of seeking reimbursement for personal travel and expenses in Las Vegas, Long Beach, California, and Guam.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, is a step closer to opening its School of Medicine. The school has begun an accreditation process that officials say could have students in classrooms by the fall of 2017. UNLV President Donald Snyder called creating a second medical school in the state a top priority.
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Tourists flying between Las Vegas and Zurich will have another nonstop flight. Edelweiss Air says it will add a third weekly nonstop flight starting next June. The Swiss airline first arrived in May at McCarran International Airport with two weekly nonstop flights. Edelweiss flies 285-seat Airbus A330 aircraft.
