SCOTT, Ark. (AP) — A man was arrested Monday in the case of an Arkansas real estate agent who disappeared last week, police said, while authorities were still searching for the woman.

Arron Michael Lewis was arrested after someone spotted him at a west Little Rock bus stop and called police. He had been named in an arrest warrant Sunday on suspicion of kidnapping 49-year-old Beverly Carter.

Lewis was being interviewed by sheriff's investigators Monday afternoon, according to Lt. Carl Minden.

"He's talking, but we haven't located her yet," Minden said.

Carter had planned to show a house Thursday night in Scott, a rural area east of Little Rock, but she never returned from the appointment. The search was proceeding Monday in the same area, Minden said, in hopes of finding Carter alive.

"Until we know for sure one way or the other we're holding out hope," he said. "Right now our spirits are still high ... that we will have a successful outcome."

Minden said authorities had "some obvious reasons" why they were looking in the area, even before speaking to Lewis, but would not give details. He also said authorities are not releasing details about how investigators identified Lewis as a suspect.

Lewis is on parole for previous convictions in Arkansas, Minden said.
