ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia's State Superintendent has named 36 parents from across the state to weigh in on education issues as members of his Parent Advisory Council.
Superintendent John Barge announced the council members on Friday. He says the three meetings this year will focus on increasing parent engagement.
Parents are nominated by local school districts at the start of each school year. The nominees are reviewed by a committee of DOE representatives. Those chosen serve two-year terms.
The council's first meeting is Oct. 20.
