LAS VEGAS (AP) — State officials say Nevada gambling revenue was down nearly 4 percent in August compared with a year earlier, largely due to a drop in winnings on the Las Vegas Strip. Nevada Gaming Control Board officials said today that revenue on the Strip was down 6 percent year-over-year while downtown revenue rose 4 percent. Reno gambling revenues were down 2 percent while South Lake Tahoe's jumped 33 percent.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Another arrest warrant has been issued in Las Vegas for the troubled 34-year-old son of a southern Nevada rancher whose backers faced down federal agents to end a cattle roundup in April. Records show that Cliven Lance Bundy failed to appear Tuesday before a Nevada state court judge overseeing a drug diversion program. Lance Bundy is facing two to eight years in state prison if he's found in violation of his parole.
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Elko County sheriff's deputies are investigating the killing of five cows and shooting of more than a dozen others in the mountains northwest of Elko. Undersheriff Clair Morris told the Elko Daily Free Press that ranch hands discovered 22 cows with gunshot wounds late Monday afternoon near Swales Mountain.
BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Boulder City hospital is getting $1.7 million in federal funds to move from paper to electronic health records. Sen. Harry Reid said today that the hospital had won a grant from the USDA on the heels of a $13 million award the hospital won last year to help renovate and expand its facilities.
