MACON, Ga. (AP) — A new charter school will be opening in central Georgia.

WMAZ-TV (http://on.wmaz.com/1svhc1p ) reports the Cirrus Academy Charter School will open in Macon and serve about 600 students from Bibb, Baldwin, Jones, Crawford, Twiggs, Monroe and Wilkinson counties.

The president of the board of trustees, Pamela Brown, said the academy will focus on science, technology, engineering, math and the arts.

The school is slated to open for the 2015-2016 school year.
