SOUTH JORDAN — A 16-year-old was taken into custody after stabbing his stepfather Thursday afternoon, police said.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on 10400 South, according to South Jordan police Sgt. Sam Winkler. A 45-year-old man, his 16-year-old stepson and a woman were driving in a car when the stepfather and teenager got into an argument.
The teen stabbed the stepfather and then threw the knife out the window into a field, Winkler said. The man pulled the car over and emergency responders arrived on the scene. The man was transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury on his upper right chest.
Officers found the knife in the field and the teen was taken into custody by police.
