The rally today drew hundreds of participants wearing red T-shirts outside the Planet Hollywood hotel-casino. About 1,000 nurses and health care workers are in Las Vegas for the convention.

MESQUITE, Nev. (AP) — An explosion at a plastics manufacturing business in Mesquite today injured one employee. Mesquite fire officials say the worker was burned and was being taken by air to a Las Vegas hospital from the Primex Plastics Corp. The plant manager says the cause of the explosion is under investigation.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A California man is suing Rod Stewart, saying the singer kicked a soccer ball into his face during a 2012 Las Vegas concert, resulting in the man losing his sense of smell.
