TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — The best AP top-25 college football matchup might be tonight (8 p.m. Eastern) when top-ranked Florida State takes on ACC rival, the 22nd-ranked Clemson Tigers. PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Later tonight (10:30 p.m. Eastern), the high-octane and second-ranked Oregon Ducks hit the road to play at Pac-12 rival Washington State. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Detroit Tigers can take a 2-1/2 game lead on Kansas City in the tight AL Central race with a victory over the Royals today (1:05 p.m. Eastern). The Tigers send out 16-game winner Max Scherzer against the Royals' James Shields, who is 14-7.

SINGAPORE (AP) — Lewis Hamilton claimed pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix by out-qualifying his Mercedes teammate and title rival Nico Rosberg by a mere seven thousandths of a second on Saturday. Hamilton claimed his sixth pole of the season with a time of 1 minute 45.681 seconds, and it could prove crucial on a tight and twisty Marina Bay circuit, the site of Sunday's race in Singapore.
