Mary Richards reportingA mysterious time capsule was recently found at Sandy Elementary School, and the principal hopes someone in the community can help her figure out the rest of the story.
Principal Sandra Dahl-Houlihan says construction crews found a metal pipe with a long scroll rolled up inside. She says the pipe was unearthed during recent work on the school's flagpole.
The scroll includes dozens of names. "We get some first and last names, but it's very traditional: Mr. and Mrs.," Dahl-Houlihan said.
There's also a plaque dated November 11, 1953.
The school is right on Sandy's Historic Main Street, so it could have been a community-sponsored deal. Dahl-Houlihan hopes someone knows a story behind all this so they can share it with Sandy's next generation.
