WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is ramping up its response to West Africa's Ebola crisis. It's going to send 3,000 military personnel to the region to provide medical and logistical support. The Ebola outbreak is blamed for more than 2,200 deaths.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House and Senate are on a tight schedule as they race to authorize an expanded mission to arm and train moderate Syrian rebels. The Obama administration says the training operation is needed to establish credible, local grounded forces to accompany U.S. air strikes against the militant group Islamic State. Republicans are expected to hold internal talks Tuesday morning.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghan officials say they're not sure if anyone was killed in a suicide car blast Tuesday, just yards from the U.S. Embassy in Kabul. At least 13 people were wounded. A Kabul police investigator says the bomber targeted a foreign convoy, but he's not sure of the nationalities involved. The Taliban is claiming responsibility for the attack.

WEED, Calif. (AP) — A wildfire is racing through a small California town near the Oregon border, forcing some 1,500 to evacuate. Fire officials say the blaze in Weed, California, has damaged or destroyed 100 homes and burned a church to the ground. The wildfire has blackened about 350 acres of timberland.

MINNETONKA, Minnesota (AP) - The Radisson hotel chain has called a timeout on its sponsorship of the Minnesota Vikings because of child abuse allegations against star running back Adrian Peterson. Minnesota-based Radisson says it has a "long-standing commitment to the protection of children." The team says it will allow Peterson to play while the case against him is resolved. He's accused of injuring his 4-year-old son in Texas while disciplining him.
