LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada has scored nearly $30 million in federal funding for projects including improved bike lanes in Las Vegas and a rapid bus service between Reno and Sparks.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced Tuesday that Nevada had won $13.3 million for transportation projects in southern Nevada and $16 million for the north.
The funds will go toward bike and mass transit improvements along a 14-mile stretch of Flamingo Road in Las Vegas. They will also supply a 3.6-mile rapid transit project in northern Nevada, and may help buy electric buses and chargers.
The money comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation's TIGER grant program, which funds road, rail, transit and port projects.
