TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Mike Perish threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth, LeMonte Booker had three rushing scores and Indiana State defeated Tennessee Tech 49-14 on Saturday.
Perish was 26 of 34 for 383 yards. Gary Owens had 199 yards receiving on six receptions for the Sycamores (1-1).
Indiana State moved out to a 28-0 lead after a 37-yard touchdown by Booker early in the third quarter.
Tennessee Tech (1-1) clawed back quickly as Jordan Patrick blocked a punt and recovered it for a score and Ladarius Vanlier added a 72-yard punt return touchdown.
Perish responded with scores of 31 yards to Owens and a 9-yarder to Jamar Brown, pushing the lead back to 28.
Booker had nine carries for 77 yards.
Jared Davis was limited to 14-of-36 passing for 98 yards with an interception. Darian Stone led the Golden Eagles with 57 yards receiving and 37 rushing.
