SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State wildlife managers are removing hunting and trapping limits on bobcats, saying the animal's numbers are growing in Utah.
The total number of permits was capped at 4,600 last year, but that limit will be removed for the season that starts in November. Individual trappers and hunters will be able to get up to six permits this year, compared to three permits last year.
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources says bobcat populations are growing in Utah, meeting three out of four targets set by the state. An average number of 1,500 bobcats is caught each year in Utah.
The bobcat hunting season runs from Nov. 19 to Feb. 15. Permits go on sale Oct. 1.
