LAS VEGAS (AP) — A son of rancher Cliven Bundy has withdrawn his children from Clark County schools after his daughter was barred from carrying a pocket knife on school grounds. Ryan Bundy says that's a violation of his children's rights, and evidence of county school administrators' "communistic mentality." He told the Las Vegas Sun that he has decided to pursue education for his children elsewhere. Virgin Valley High School Principal Cliff Hughes defended his decision to prohibit Bundy's daughter from carrying a pocket knife, citing safety concerns.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah State University scientists have determined that world-renowned rock art of life-sized figures sketched into red rock cliffs in Canyonlands National Park were drawn 1,000 years more recently than what had long been believed. The team used modern luminescence dating techniques to analyze what is known as the "Great Gallery" in southeastern Utah's Horseshoe Canyon. Researchers believe the figures were created 1,000 to 2,000 years ago instead of the previously thought 2,000 to 4,000 years ago.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Utah's Sundance Mountain Resort has announced plans to add one of the longest zip line tours in the country. Resort officials say construction is scheduled to begin in September on the 2-mile zip line tour, which will offer a vertical drop of over 2,100 feet, the nation's largest such drop. They say when opened to the public in 2015, it will be the longest zip line tour in Utah and the third longest zip line tour in the U.S.

OREM, Utah (AP) — Two people were arrested on suspicion of felony theft after police said one of them swallowed a stolen ring in an attempt to hide it. Police say an X-ray clearly showed the ring inside the stomach of 25-year-old Christina Schlegel. Investigators say 29-year-old Bryan Ford had been examining a ring worth several thousand dollars at a Zales jewelry store on Friday night in Orem, about 45 miles south of Salt Lake City, when he allegedly left with it.
