WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says "we don't have a strategy yet" for degrading the violent Islamic State group seeking to establish a caliphate in the Middle East. Speaking on the matter today, Obama said "We need to make sure that we've got clear plans" The U.S. is already striking militant targets in Iraq, and officials have said Obama is considering similar action in Syria.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States might impose new economic sanctions on Russia for its continued support of the separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine. President Barack Obama suggested as much today at a White House news briefing. But he ruled out any military options and proposed no shift in the U.S.-led strategy to try and convince Moscow to halt operations against Ukraine.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A half-million more low-income Pennsylvanians are in line to get federally funded health insurance. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has approved the state's plan to accept Medicaid expansion money under the 2010 federal health care law. The state joins 26 others and Washington, D.C., in opting for the Medicaid-funded expanded coverage.
CENTENNIAL, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming law enforcement officials say a 44-year-old pastor who reported being shot and wounded in a struggle with a burglar at his church actually shot himself. The Albany County Undersheriff says Dennis Lynn Davis later told deputies he shot himself intentionally because he had personal problems. A misdemeanor citation alleges Davis made a false report.
NEW YORK (AP) — Joan Rivers' daughter says her mother is "resting comfortably" with family in a New York hospital. Officials say the 81-year-old comedian was rushed there from a doctor's office after going into cardiac arrest. Melissa Rivers is offering thanks for the "overwhelming love and support" for her mother and is asking everyone to keep her in their thoughts and prayers.
