UNDATED (AP) — The NFL has suspended Cleveland receiver Josh Gordon for the season. His appeal of a suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy was upheld by a league arbitrator. Playing in just 14 games last season, because of a two-game drug-related suspension; Gordon had 1,646 yards in receptions.

NEW YORK (AP) — Women's fourth-seed Agnieszka Radwanska (ahg-nee-ESH'-kuh rahd-VAHN'-skuh) has been eliminated from the U.S. Open. She was beaten today by China's Peng Shuai (sh-WAY'), 6-3, 6-4. Also losing this afternoon was 21st-seed Sloane Stephens of the U.S. She was beaten by a player from Sweden 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Doc Rivers has a new contract to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers. Rivers has come to terms on a five-year extension that keeps him with the club through 2019. Rivers joined the team in June 2013 and added president of basketball operations to his responsibilities two months ago.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — IndyCar racing is headed to New Orleans. A person close to the situation told The Associated Press that the series has committed to an April 12 race date next season for the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the date has not been publicly announced.

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — The management team of heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko (VLAD'-uh-meer KLICH'-koh) has announced that his defense against Kubrat Pulev has been rescheduled for Nov. 15 in Hamburg. The fight was originally slated for Sept. 6 but had to be postponed after Klitschko tore a bicep in sparring and was forced to postpone it.
