WASHINGTON (AP) — A senior White House official is raising the possibility of a broader American military campaign that targets an Islamic extremist group's bases in Syria, saying the U.S would take whatever action is necessary to protect national security. Ben Rhodes, President Barack Obama's deputy national security adviser, says "We're not going to be restricted by borders."
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Rockets, mortars, airstrikes and executions are becoming part of daily life in Gaza. Militants gunned down 18 alleged spies for Israel on Friday. Also, a 4-year-old Israeli boy was killed when a mortar shell struck his small border community. Israel says militants fired at least 117 rockets and mortar shells at Israel on Friday. Israel carried out at least 35 airstrikes.
WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 1,000 U.S. retailers could be infected with malicious software lurking in their cash register computers, allowing hackers to steal customer financial data. That's according to Homeland Security which is urging businesses to scan their point-of-sale systems for software known as "Backoff," discovered in October but not flagged by antivirus programs until this month.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is denouncing the movement of a Russian convoy into Ukraine, citing it as the latest provocation by Moscow along Ukraine's highly volatile eastern border. BREWTON, Ala. (AP) — A band director is accused of having sex with several students at his former high school in Alabama. Jeffrey Lance Gainous was arrested two days ago in Georgia where he'd just started a new job. The 32-year-old has been returned to Brewton, Alabama, and appeared today in court to face charges. Brewton is about 65 miles northeast of Mobile.
