SALT LAKE CITY — A new moving company, run entirely by college students, aims to help students make the grade and pay their bills at the same time.

Brent Uberty is one of 124 people who work as "bellhops" for getbellhops.com. And Uberty and his fellow workers are all young.

“It’s all college students,” Uberty says. “In order to be hired…you have to be enrolled in classes and you have to be at the university which we are based out of.”

Uberty’s university happens to be the University of Utah. He believes it's a great job for students, because "bellhops" can accept or reject any job on their job board according to their individual schedules.

Uberty said they are licensed and insured and based in several cities across the United States. And some of their jobs are just unloading big moving trucks.

But could they be successful in Utah, where faith-based communities tend to help each other move?

“I think it was definitely in the back of everyone’s head, especially after the first few months,” Uberty says. “When we started (in May) we weren’t getting a ton of clients. We were maybe getting 1 to 2 jobs every other week.” But he said that has changed recently and they are now getting couple of jobs a week.

He credited the increase to word of mouth from satisfied clients and a little bit of advertising through KSL Classifieds and other sites.
