ST. LOUIS (AP) — The San Diego Padres have placed first baseman Yonder Alonso on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained forearm. They recalled infielder Jace Peterson from Triple-A El Paso.

The move is retroactive to Wednesday.

Peterson is making his fourth stint with the Padres this season.

Alonso is batting .240 with seven homers and 27 RBIs in 84 games.
