EDGARTOWN, Mass. (AP) — The White House says President Barack Obama "is looking onwards and upwards" in his relationship with former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton after a public split on foreign policy. A spokesman says the president appreciated Clinton's phone call yesterday to smooth over the fallout of a magazine interview where she distanced herself from her former boss. The spokesman says Obama looks forward to seeing her at a party tonight while they are both on Martha's Vineyard. Clinton's spokesman has said she looks forward to "hugging it out" with Obama.

DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — Amid a debate over who should receive an experimental treatment for Ebola, there's word that doctors who were treating a leading physician in Sierra Leone had considered giving him the drug. But according to the relief group Doctors Without Borders, they were afraid it could trigger a dangerous immune response, and they didn't administer it. That doctor eventually died of the disease. And today, another top doctor from the West African country also died of Ebola.

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) — A presidential candidate in Brazil has been killed in a plane crash. Local officials say Eduardo Campos died in the crash of a small private jet into a residential area in the southeastern port city of Santos today. The crash occurred in bad weather.

MIAMI (AP) — Justin Bieber (BEE'-bur) has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor careless driving and resisting arrest charges. The plea deal comes seven months after his arrest in Miami Beach following what police initially called an illegal street drag race. Details were spelled out at a court hearing today in Miami. The deal includes a 12-hour anger management course, a $50,000 charitable contribution and court fines. The deal allows Bieber to avoid a driving under the influence conviction.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Walking in high heels isn't a crime -- but a beauty pageant contestant in California has been arrested after she was caught on video, walking comfortably in a pair of those shoes. State officials say Shawna Lynn Palmer had been collecting workers' compensation benefits after saying she had fractured a toe while working at a supermarket. A doctor issued her crutches and an orthopedic shoe. But officials say she wasn't showing any discomfort in the high heels as she competed to become Miss Toyota at the Long Beach Grand Prix. She's facing three felony counts of defrauding an insurance company.
