RENO, Nev. (AP) — A new study shows Nevada state employees pay for a significantly larger share of their health insurance premiums compared with the portion of the costs other states bill their employees. Nevada is one of 11 states where the employee covers at least one-fourth of the cost of their premium. The report says the average among all states is 16 percent charged to the employee, 84 percent to the employer.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Residents of a northwest Reno neighborhood are still digging out a day after a sudden downpour sent a flow of mud and debris cascading down Peavine Peak and onto their lawns and streets. Some lawns were covered by up to a half foot of mud. One resident told KOLO-TV the mudslide sent several boulders the size of bowling balls into the street.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a 40-year-old North Las Vegas man who was shot dead after police say he fatally stabbed a woman in her vehicle. Clark County coroner's officials say Scott Brown died of multiple gunshot wounds on Monday evening. Authorities haven't yet identified the woman.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Not even the chief justice of the Nevada Supreme Court is getting out of jury duty this time. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Chief Justice Mark Gibbons was summoned and then selected from about 100 other potential jurors to serve at a Carson City trial this week. The case involves a Douglas County man accused of waving a gun at a Carson City Olive Garden restaurant last summer.
