FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Police in Ferguson, Missouri say several people have been arrested in Monday night's violence following a weekend police shooting that killed a black teen. On Monday, the FBI opened an investigation into the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown, who authorities say was shot several times. Witnesses say Ferguson had his hands up when he was shot. Authorities say police used tear gas and rubber bullets to try to break up a crowd Monday night. They say there's been no vandalism and looting of businesses, as there was Sunday night.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Robin Williams' widow says she's "utterly heartbroken" to lose one of the world's "most beloved artists and beautiful human beings." The 63-year-old actor and comedian was found dead Monday in his home north of San Francisco. Authorities say he died of an apparent suicide. Williams had been battling severe depression.
MONROVIA, Liberia (AP) — A California-based drug company says it has run out of the experimental drug used to treat Ebola. U.S. officials said they had put Liberia in touch with Mapp Biopharmaceutical, and Liberia officials said once they got the drug called ZMapp, it would be given to two sick doctors. The news comes as anger is growing over the fact that the only people to receive the experimental treatment so far have been Westerners. Two of them are missionaries currently being treated in Atlanta.
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — NATO says one of its service members has been killed in an attack in eastern Afghanistan. The international military coalition says the attack happened Tuesday, but it's given no other details. And there's no word on the nationality of the soldier killed. The death brings to 51 the number of NATO service members who have died in Afghanistan this year, including 38 Americans.
MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Philippine security forces have captured a fugitive former army general wanted in the kidnapping of two students. A military spokesman says Jovito Palparan was found in a hideout in Manila. He had been on the run since December 2011, after a court issued a warrant for his arrest in the kidnapping and disappearance of two female left-wing activists in 2006. The women remain missing. President Benigno Aquinio III has promised to bring high-profile criminal suspects to justice.
