LAYTON, Utah (AP) -- A Layton woman charged with scalding her four-year-old grandson -- who also nearly drowned in the bathtub -- has apparently fled to Mexico.

Forty-five-year-old Martha Gomez is charged with child abuse for inflicting scalding burns to the little boy in December 2004.

Gomez and her husband then brought the boy to the hospital in January 2005, claiming they found him unconscious in a bathtub.

The boy was declared dead, but was found alive five hours later. The boy has since recovered from the near-drowning and is in foster care.

Authorities say Gomez has NOT been seen since November. A judge has issued a no-bail warrant for her arrest.
