GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) — Outgoing baseball commissioner Bud Selig says there will be a vote on his successor next week when the owners convene in Baltimore. Selig confirmed reports that the three finalists are Rob Manfred, MLB's chief operating officer; Tim Brosnan, MLB's executive vice president for business and Boston Red Sox chairman Tom Werner.
SEATTLE (AP)— The Atlanta Braves' losing streak has reached a season-high eight games. Dustin Ackley and Logan Morrison hitting home runs in the third inning in the Seattle Mariners' 7-3 win over the Braves, who fell three and a-half games back of Washington heading into the Nationals game at home tonight against the Mets.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Kevin Kiermaier hit a two-run homer to help Jeremy Hellickson end a six-start winless stretch for his first victory in 11 months, and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Oakland Athletics 7-3. That cuts the Athletics' lead to a game and a-half over the L.A. Angels, who are playing the crosstown Dodgers tonight in the Freeway Series.
TORONTO (AP) — The leading teams in the American League East are squaring off in game two of a mid-week series in Toronto tonight. The Blue Jays are hosting Baltimore's Orioles, who top the Jays by five games in the division.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings are going to play an outdoor game at the new 49ers home in Santa Clara on Feb. 21. The $1.2 billion Levi's Stadium beat out the San Francisco Giants' AT&T Park for the game, which is part of the NHL's growing Stadium Series.
