TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in northern Florida say a 7-year-old boy was stabbed to death and the main suspect is his 63-year-old grandmother.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office reports that deputies responded to a 911 call Tuesday morning at a home in the Killearn Lakes neighborhood just north of Tallahassee. They discovered that Mason Rhinehart had been stabbed multiple times in the chest.

Rhinehart was taken to the hospital, but he did not survive.

The boy's grandmother, Martha White, and her car were found by deputies in a park in the neighborhood. Tallahassee station WCTV showed a handcuffed White being taken away in an ambulance.

A sheriff's spokesman said White will be charged in the boy's death once she is medically cleared.
