(KSL News) Graffiti artists got caught red-handed overnight on the roof of a warehouse.
Security guards at the Sportsman's Warehouse distribution center in Midvale noticed two people climbing onto the roof late last night. They called police, who surrounded the building and climbed onto the roof with police dogs. The vandals gave up peacefully but had to be lowered off the building by a fire truck.

Though graffiti may seem like a minor crime, police say the cost is serious.
Sgt. Marcelo Rapela of the Midvale Police Department said, "We had to take five or six officers off the roads for about 30 or 40 minutes. The fire department had to come out and help us hoist the suspects down off the roof, taking them out of commission for about an hour, as well as the business owners who are going to have to repaint their wall."

The two suspects do have a history of graffiti. Last night they were arrested on charges of criminal trespassing, vandalism and some drug charges.
