SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Ten days after a storm knocked down 13 large trees at Whitworth University, another storm knocked down 30 more big trees on the Spokane campus, causing minor damage to Warren Hall and Cowles Auditorium.
Spokeswoman Nancy Hines told The Spokesman-Review (http://bit.ly/1ueSLlJ ) another dozen trees are compromised and will have to be removed.
The high winds Saturday also knocked down trees and caused power outages north of Spokane and in Bonner County, Idaho. The Avista utility said about 50,000 of its customers lost power — about 10 more than in the July 23 storm.
