SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A ruling is likely months away after a federal judge in Salt Lake City heard testimony over an attorney's claim that the FBI has not done enough to search for videos of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups has requested final court briefs summarizing arguments from both sides. The FBI says there are no unreleased videos.
MILLCREEK, Utah (AP) — Police say they are checking for explosives at a house in Millcreek where a 70-year-old man was killed. Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder tells KSL that the man's 29-year-old son is in custody. Police were called to the home on a report of a domestic situation.
SANDY, Utah (AP) — School officials in Sandy say they'll have a middle school repaired by the first day of classes on Aug. 20 after a faulty sprinkler system flooded part of the building. The Deseret News reports water flooded an auditorium and destroyed computers at Eastmont Middle School. The damage was discovered Wednesday.
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A 31-year-old hunting guide accused of illegally capturing mountain lions and bobcats near the Colorado-Utah line is pleading guilty to a felony conspiracy charge. Federal prosecutors tell the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel that Nicholaus Rogers of Shady Cove, Oregon, would injure the animals to make them easier to hunt. A co-defendant has pleaded not guilty.
VERNAL, Utah (AP) — Federal land managers are hoping to avoid any more run-ins between bears and campers at a popular site near eastern Utah's Book Cliffs. They are extending a temporary ban on camping in the area and warning daytime users to watch for bears. Last weekend, a black bear reportedly broke into two unoccupied camping trailers.
