COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A 14-year-old girl is in the hospital after being attacked by a pit bull in Cottonwood Heights.
The attack happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to Cottonwood Heights police.
They say the girl and some friends walked past the pit bull at a home near 7000 South and 3050 East earlier in the evening. They petted the dog while the owner was present and the dog was chained to a tree.
When the girl passed by later, the dog attacked her, biting her face and leg, police said.
Her parents took her to a hospital. Her condition was not immediately known.
Cottonwood Heights Animal Control took possession of the dog and police cited the owner.
