(KSL News) Parents met tonight to hear how school administrators are dealing with a mold problem at Orchard Elementary School in West Valley City.
Patches of mold were found inside the building last year and sent for testing. The levels were low, but even so, the school wanted to make sure it was safe for students and faculty.
Since last July, crews have been making repairs and upgrades to the school. Some parents are still concerned.
Parent Sherry Shoell said, "I just don't think they should be going here if there's mold here at all, because mold can cause serious side-effects. I've seen it a hundred times, a hundred times on TV."
So far, only one child and one teacher have been sensitive enough to the mold to transfer schools. That's far fewer than school leaders expected.
