DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Duke point guard Alexis Jones says she will transfer to be closer to home as she recovers from a knee injury.

Jones is a native of Irving, Texas. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Jones averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.9 steals while starting every game over two seasons.

She took on a larger late-season role as a freshman after Chelsea Gray went down with a knee injury. She suffered her own season-ending knee injury in February at Notre Dame and missed the last seven games.

Coach Joanne P. McCallie says she supports Jones' decision and wishes her the best as she recovers from the injury.
