ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Charlie Em edged 3-5 favorite Customer Base by a head to win the $75,000 Possibly Perfect Handicap at Santa Anita on Thursday.
Ridden by Martin Garcia, Charlie Em ran 1 1/2 miles on the turf in 2:29.23 and paid $11.40, $4.60 and $3.20.
Customer Base returned $2.40 and $2.20, while Perfecta was another 4 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $6.60 to show.
The victory, worth $46,980, increased Charlie Em's career earnings to $174,978, with five wins in 19 starts.
