BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A former Idaho man on the run for a decade before pleading guilty to child exploitation charges has been sentenced to eight years in prison. The U.S. Attorney's Office said yesterday Gerald Ferrell was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Boise. Court records say Farrell and his wife in 2003 hosted a 16-year-old German exchange student who said one night she woke up with Farrell on top of her trying to remove her underwear. Ferrell was arrested in Spain last July.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States is still growing older, but the trend is reversing itself in the Great Plains because of an oil and gas boom. Seven states actually got younger — Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming. The Census Bureau says that the five mainland states are in the middle of the country's oil and gas boom and are attracting young men looking for work.

JEROME, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by a nurse seeking to have unemployment benefits reinstated after losing his job following a Facebook post. The Times-News reports the court ruled that Joseph Talbot violated Desert View Care Center's policies in January 2013 when he posted that would like to slap a patient.

HAILEY, Idaho (AP) — The FAA is investigating after a chartered jet went off the edge of the runway at the airport in Hailey. Freidman Memorial Airport Manager Rick Baird tells the Idaho Mountain Express that the eight-passenger Learjet 60 ended up on the runway shoulder last week. No injuries were reported.
