BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraq's prime minister is calling on his nation's political blocs to close ranks in the face of Sunni militants who've taken control over part of the country. But in Nouri al-Maliki's weekly address today, he gave no concrete promise of greater political inclusiveness for minority Sunnis. U.S. officials are pressing for the next Iraqi government to be more inclusive, in an effort to draw Sunni support away from militants.

BRUSSELS (AP) — Russia's upper house of parliament has canceled a resolution allowing the use of military in Ukraine. Parliament's action, ordered the day before by President Vladimir Putin, is intended to show Moscow's eagerness to de-escalate tensions and avoid a new round of Western sanctions. Meanwhile in Brussels, NATO ministers are considering what to do next about Russia, which the secretary general says is still not respecting its commitments over Ukraine.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — The CEO of Malaysia Airlines says the carrier needs a radical operational overhaul in order to survive. CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yaha says Malaysia Airlines kept a low profile after the March 8 disappearance of flight 370, but it began to boost its marketing campaign this month and is seeing a "significant recovery" in business. The airline expects to roll out a detailed business plan later.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Singer Chris Brown is expected to be in Washington, D.C. Superior Court today for a hearing on the assault charge he faces. Brown was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault in October, after he allegedly hit a man outside the W hotel when the man tried to get in a photograph.

NEW YORK (AP) — Police in New York City say they've made no arrests in the stabbing of a man who walked into a McDonald's with a kitchen knife still stuck in his back. Officers went to the Jamaica, Queens fast food restaurant Tuesday morning after receiving 911 calls from inside. The New York Post says the man was stabbed after getting into an argument with a group of men. He was treated at a local hospital.
