COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A dozen law enforcement officers who exchanged gunfire with an Arizona man during a chase on Interstate 90 in northern Idaho over the weekend have been placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated. Kootenai County officials say the suspect, Marcus Rael of Glendale, Arizona, remains hospitalized in stable condition.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Republican Chairman Barry Peterson is calling for a special meeting to settle the party's leadership. Republicans failed to elect a new chairman or any party officers at their state convention earlier this month. Later, the state central committee decided that Peterson would lead the party for two more years. The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 9.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The owners of 76 cabins built on state land around a northern Idaho lake are suing over the way the state determined the land's value. The Spokesman-Review reports the lawsuit argues the state is including the value of improvements such as access roads and utility lines that renters paid to have installed at cabin sites on Priest Lake.
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A southeastern Idaho woman faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of a 47-year-old man who lived in northern Bannock County. KPVI-TV reports 22-year-old Josephine B. The Boy was scheduled to make an initial court appearance today on the murder charge in the death of Martin Anderton. She also faces charges of robbery and burglary.
