BASTROP, Texas (AP) — A former Central Texas sixth-grade teacher has been sentenced to 15 years in prison over the sexual assault of two male students.
Prosecutors on Friday announced the penalty for 61-year-old Arthur Reyes of Bastrop, who pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault.
Reyes, who worked for the Bastrop Independent School District, was arrested in August 2012 after one of his students told relatives that he was being abused. Investigators say a second student later reported being sexually assaulted by the teacher.
Reyes was indicted in April 2013. Prosecutors say he pleaded guilty and was sentenced Thursday to two 15-year terms, to be served concurrently.
Bastrop is 30 miles east of Austin.
