LAS VEGAS (AP) — Eight homeless assistance programs around Las Vegas have received a total of $1.6 million in federal grants.
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development officials say the funding announced Thursday will provide critically needed housing and support services to the homeless.
They say the grants will ensure additional permanent and transitional housing projects can continue operating in the coming fiscal year.
Programs awarded grants in varying amounts were A Place to Call Home, CHAMPS, the CoC Planning Project, Moving Forward, Pathways, Project E.I.G.H.T., Rapid Rehousing and St. Vincent HELP Apartments.
No other programs in Nevada received funds.
In all, HUD announced $140 million in federal grants to nearly 900 local homeless assistance programs across the country.
They represented the second round of grants under the department's Continuum of Care Program.
