KAYSVILLE, Utah (AP) — A Kaysville businessman has been charged with defrauding investors of $72 million in a Ponzi scheme. Dee Randall was charged yesterday with 22 counts of securities fraud and one count of pattern of unlawful activity. Charging documents say most of the investors took part because Randall had a good reputation in the insurance industry and was an active member of the Mormon church.
TOOELE, Utah (AP) — A Tooele woman has pleaded guilty to child abuse homicide in the methadone-related death of her 2-year-old son. Jill Goff entered the plea Tuesday in the January 31 death of Aiden Goff. The 32-year-old Goff told police she accidently poured methadone into a cup rather than Gatorade. Police say the woman's 8-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter later tested positive for methadone.
TORREY, Utah (AP) — A man and woman are dead after a head-on collision in Utah's Capitol Reef National Park. The Highway Patrol says Stephen Foster and Kristina Foster of Knoxville were pronounced dead at the scene yesterday. Troopers say the Fosters were eastbound on State Route 24 near Torrey when an oncoming pickup truck drifted off the roadway, overcorrected and then struck the Fosters' car.
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A jury in Billings, Montana, deliberated for only 16 minutes before finding a 62-year-old man guilty of his 14th drunken-driving offense. The Billings Gazette reports Edwin Cuch was convicted yesterday of DUI and will be sentenced Sept. 15. Five of his 13 prior DUI convictions were in Utah.
