STARKE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida death row inmate has become the third man to be executed in the U.S. in less than 24 hours. John Ruthell Henry was convicted and sentenced to death for fatally stabbing his wife. Just before his lethal injection, Henry asked for forgiveness and apologized for what he'd done. He also was convicted of fatally stabbing Suzanne Henry's 5-year-old son hours after the woman's murder.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal judge has issued a split ruling on Utah's controversial immigration law. The judge upheld a key provision that requires police work with federal authorities to check the immigration status of people arrested for felonies or certain misdemeanors. But at the same time, the judge set limits on how the provision can be enforced.

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) — For the first time, the media have been given access to crowded Border Patrol stations in South Texas and Arizona. That's where thousands of young, unaccompanied immigrants are being held before they are transferred to other shelters around the country. The surge in minors, mostly from Central America, has overwhelmed the U.S. government.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama and congressional leaders met at the White House to discuss the al-Qaida-inspired insurgency sweeping through Iraq. The leaders came away from the meeting saying they and the president don't believe he needs authorization from Congress for some steps he might take. That could set up a conflict with rank-and-file lawmakers.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man who has already pleaded not guilty to breaking into the home of actress Sandra Bullock has been charged with possessing an arsenal of heavy weapons. The Los Angeles County district attorney's office charged Joshua James Corbett with 19 felony counts. There's no claim that Corbett, who pleaded not guilty, brought weapons when police say he jumped Bullock's fence and broke into her home June 8.
