FAIRVIEW, Sanpete County — A man and his mother were found dead in an apparent murder suicide, according to the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office reported on their Facebook page that officers responded to a possible shooting in Fairview Heights, a subdivision of Fairview, at about 5:30 p.m. Monday. When officers arrived they found a “male in his mid-twenties and his mother both deceased from gunshot wounds in what appears to be a murder-suicide.”

Sanpete County Sheriff Brian Nielson called the deaths a "horrible, tragic event" that has rattled the close-knit community.

More information will be posted when it’s available.
