(KSL News) A major cleanup project along the Jordan River got underway today.
Volunteers including business leaders, political leaders and members of the Islamic community focused on litter and pollution that's been building up over the years.
Jeff Salt/ Exec. Dir., Great Salt Lakekeeper: "We're all working together to make the Parkway a better place for people who use the Parkway. But really what we're doing is trying to build a sense of community for people who love the Parkway."
The area covered today ran from 21st South to 33rd South.
There are four large scale cleanup projects planned through October as well as some smaller proejcts. The entire river runs 44 miles from Utah Lake to the Great Salt Lake.
