SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A former psychiatrist who fled the country after being convicted for possession of child pornography is dead. He was found today in his jail cell in the Dominican Republic.
The F-B-I said Bruce Guernsey is believed to have committed suicide.
Guernsey pleaded guilty in Utah to one court of possession of child pornography in March. The last time he was seen in the state was in April after he filed paperwork to surrender his license to practice psychiatry.
After failing to check in under his court ordered supervised pretrial release, a new arrest warrant was issued.
Guernsey was found yesterday at a hotel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The F-B-I says Guernsey was using fake identification and changed his appearance at the time of his arrest.
The Dominican Republican National Police is investigating Guernsey's death.
