MONTICELLO — Crews recovered the body of a man missing since June 6 after being separated from his rafting party.

The body of Casey Menuey, 33 of Moab, was recovered from the Colorado River around 10:30 Saturday morning by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies and the National Park Service, according the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

Menuey was separated from his rafting party at Lathrop Canyon on June 6, which is 7 miles up the river, according to the Facebook post.

Officials said Menuey was not wearing a life preserver, and they believe alcohol was a contributing factor.

The body will be sent to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office in Salt Lake City for identification and examination.

“We would like to thank the great efforts of the National Parks Service, the Department of Public Safety, and Utah State Parks. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Casey Menuey,” the post said.
