LIVERPOOL — A little boy who is his mother’s superhero got to take a flight just like Superman.
Watching the video of 3-year-old Luke Campbell’s joy as he flies with the help of ropes and pulleys through a set of New York City is sweet enough, but once one realizes what it means to his family, good luck holding the tears back.
Luke has a congenital heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, and recently his heart began failing. Besides medication, doctors are unable to perform further treatment for the boy with limited blood flow.
In stepped Make-A-Wish, giving “mummy’s little superhero or ‘Super Luke’” a flight through Superman’s city. At one point, his sister Olivia — dressed in a mermaid costume — joined him in the sky, giggling and smiling with her brother in his Superman costume and cape.
