MIAMI (AP) — Erik Spoelstra might not be the Philippines' favorite basketball coach anymore.
Boxer Manny Pacquiao is going to be coaching the Kia team when the Philippines Basketball Association opens play this fall. That deal was announced earlier this week.
Kia is a new team in the league, and basketball is wildly popular already in the Philippines. There's also a huge NBA and Miami Heat following in the country, in part because Spoelstra is of Filipino heritage.
Spoelstra says: "Well, I'm not taking a boxing job."
