PROVO — Provo residents have rallied together to help their city make it to the final two in a contest nominating "America's Best Place to Live."
Outside magazine has turned to its readers to nominate the best town in America for 2014, and the winner will be chosen through a series of voting rounds. The competition is set up with a bracket like the ones used in March Madness. Voters can choose one town per round.
Provo continued through the first four rounds beating out Jackson, Wyoming; Taos, New Mexico; Missoula, Montana; and Sunday night, Provo had a close win against Anchorage, Alaska with 50,037 votes to 47,549.
Utahns have turned to social media to help promote and incentivize voting for Provo, with Mayor John Curtis is offering tickets to the Stadium of Fire. To enter to win the tickets, a person needs to vote for Provo on voteprovo.com, take a selfie with a sign that says "voteprovo.com" and then share it on social media. Tag the picture with #VoteProvo and #ProvoRocks and tell why Provo is the best town in America.
Several Utahns have shown their support for Provo by posting pictures saying "voteprovo.com" including Curtis, Neon Trees, BYU President Kevin J Worthen, Gov. Gary Herbert and KSL's Doug Wright.
The voting for the fifth and final round ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday.
