SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is full of creative artists longing to share their work. RAW gives those people a platform for showing their stuff.

This Thursday, photography, paintings, music and makeup will be featured at RAW’s Natural Born Artists show. The show was organized in hopes that creative people will be given an arena to meet other artists, and share their work.

Mallory Francks is a photographer from Salt Lake City who travels around the state to take pictures of people and events.

“I like to think I bring a different style of photography to Utah — a style that is unique to me,” Francks said. “I like to make my portraits a real work of art.”

Her booth will feature her best and favorite pieces, and a raffle to win a free portrait session.

“I hope to meet a ton of new people at the show,” Francks said. “It should be a lot of fun and a great networking opportunity.”

Artists who are interested in becoming involved with RAW can sign up on RAW's website, submit some samples and have their work seen. Francks was asked to be an artist in the Natural Born Artists show shortly after signing up. She said she enjoys the camaraderie of the program.

“A good friend of mine who is my main makeup artist for shoots is also in the show with me, so you will be able to see some of my work at her booth as well and vice versa,” Francks said.

RAW also reached out to Jordan Seegmiller and asked if it could showcase his work. He wasn’t sure, at first, if it would be beneficial.

“I thought that they could be using it to exploit artists, but after asking around a little bit I found out they're a legitimate organization with shows all around the world,” Seegmiller said. “I then got really nervous and anxious while also being really excited for it.”

He will be showing his digital art: photo manipulations and graphic design. He hopes to meet other artists and collaborate with them in the future.

“I also enjoy looking at other mediums and how people express themselves through them,” Seegmiller said.

RAW aims to give artists — photographers, designers, performers — exposure and resources to share their work. Each event features a film screening, live music, a fashion show, and art gallery with performance art and a hairstylist and makeup artist. Each artist is hand-picked by the RAW staff to be featured at the event.

The Natural Born Artists showcase will feature more than 30 artists Thursday, June 5 at The Complex in Salt Lake. The showcase is for those 18 and older; cocktail attire is required. $20 at the door.
